Technical Lead

Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Lead to take ownership of core platform engineering and delivery for our portfolio AI startup. This role is responsible for system design, backend/frontend engineering, DevOps practices, and team execution, while partnering closely with the AI/ML Lead, Product Managers, and business stakeholders. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, ideal for someone who can balance coding, architecture, and team guidance in a fast-growing company.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
1. Lead day-to-day engineering execution across backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams.
2. Own system design and architecture for the company's core platforms and products.
3. Ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure implementations aligned with business needs.
4. Collaborate closely with the AI/ML Lead to integrate AI capabilities into production systems.
5. Participate actively in coding, code reviews, and design discussions.

Architecture & Engineering Practices
1. Design and maintain microservices-based architectures and APIs.
2. Define and enforce best practices for:
* Code quality and design patterns
* Automated testing
* CI/CD and release management
* Security and performance
3. Review technical designs and provide guidance to engineers.

Cloud, DevOps & Reliability
1. Own and manage AWS infrastructure and deployments.
2. Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and monitoring.
3. Ensure system reliability, availability, and basic observability.
4. Address performance bottlenecks and production issues proactively.
Collaboration & Mentorship
1. Work closely with Product Managers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
2. Mentor engineers and support their technical growth.
3. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality releases.
4. Contribute to technical planning, estimations, and sprint execution.

Required Technical Skills:
1. Backend & APIs
2. Strong experience with Node.js/Express
3. Experience with Python (services, integrations, or AI consumption)
4. MySQL / PostgreSQL / Other Data Bases as Needed
5. REST and GraphQL APIs

Frontend
1. Angular and/or React/NextJS
2. Understanding of frontend architecture, performance, and usability
3. Well versed with Micro frontends, Reusable UI Components

Cloud & DevOps
1. AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS)
2. CI/CD pipelines
3. Docker (Kubernetes exposure is a plus)

Engineering Fundamentals
1. System design and microservices architecture
2. Git and collaborative development workflows
3. Agile / Scrum methodologies

What sets you apart:
You've worked alongside AI/ML teams and know how to get models into production, not just talk about it
You've set up observability (Prometheus/Grafana) before someone had to ask
Startup or fast-scaling company experience
Non-negotiable: communication. You'll bridge product, AI/ML, and engineering, if you can't translate technical decisions into plain language, this role won't work for you.
This is a hands-on leadership seat with real visibility across the stack and a clear path to Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager as the company grows.
