Python / Django Developer (Contract)

The Sentinel Project is looking to contract an experienced Python / Django developer to update our existing open-source software platforms, including feature implementation and optimization. This remote contract position is open to applications from any geographic region but strong English language skills are required. A successful applicant will have a portfolio of completed open-source web developments and experience as an independent contractor.

Responsibilities:

1. Extend and upgrade existing web applications according to strategic plan and required functionality
2. Testing and optimization of web applications, user experience and user interface
3. Work with technology leads to develop and deploy changes to web applications


Required Skills:

> Five (5) or more years of professional web development experience with at least three (3) years of Python, and Django web frameworks
> Able to demonstrate proficiency in web development with portfolio of complete projects
> Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS as well as a solid knowledge of current web standards
> Proficient in front-end development with HTML5 / CSS and Javascript experience, asynchronous request handling, and API operation
> Experience with responsive web design, version control systems (especially Git), SQL databases, Google APIs, open-source projects
> Ability to work independently, track hours and productivity
> High-quality written and verbal English communication skills
